Fabrication Process

The Telcordia-patented supercapacitor fabrication process consists of the following steps:

1. Casting of carbon-loaded electrode films containing a plasticized fluoropolymer binder,
2. Bonding of electrode films to treated current collector foils or grids,
3. Bonding of two electrode-collector assemblies to separator,
4. Removal of the ancillary plasticizer by liquid or supercritical extraction, or evaporation,
5. Packaging dried pre-forms into multi-layer bags or pouches,
6. Activating pre-forms with a liquid electrolyte solution,
7. Sealing, conditioning and labeling.
